“We regret to inform you”…receiving a folded flag…the sound of a bugle playing Taps…are things I never imagined experiencing in my life. In an instant, I went from wife to widow, our daughter was now fatherless; we were now the family of a Fallen Hero. In a life where normal is no longer, this group not only provides valuable information to resources, but also support for each other in the happy moments and comfort during the sad times. In a sense our lives had been devastated, but not destroyed."

Colorado Military Survivors was founded by five widows from the Colorado area who found endless support and created lifetime friendships through a military grief support group. While national programs existed to offer comfort to families of fallen service members, there was no local organization to assist survivors in the communities where they lived and worked. By forming CMS, these five survivors hope to lend much needed support, while raising awareness statewide.
